Take a step back in time to a town where families spend time together, children walk to school and play outside
and everyone knows your name. The town is Mountain Lakes where residents still enjoy the tradition, history and
ideals of this unique park community developed in the early 1900's.
There are  close to 500 Craftsman style homes still standing today.  Mountain Lakes enjoys the largest collection
of Craftsman style homes in the United States.  These homes were built by a developer named Herbert Hapgood
who built approximately 700 craftsman homes.  Built from materials on the land, the homes boast stone chimneys,
chestnut woodwork and hand hewn beams.  Driving through the town is certainly a history lesson and those who
visit or live in town appreciate the unique treasure, the town of Mountain Lakes.
